Hi there - fellow alumni! 

My name’s Shishir Hattangadi and I’m writing to you from Ahmedabad. I passed out from St.Mary’s ISC in 71. After a few years of playing cricket (I captained Maharastra from XX to XX), I’ve moved to Ahmedabad where I live with my wife Juju and my Sahaan (He’s 9 and has no interest in becoming a cricketer).

The other day I was talking to a friend of mine here about how much fun I had when I ran into some old school friends on my last visit to Mumbai. We then got to talking about how sad it is that most alumni associations in India can’t be very active because of a lack of funds.

What he said made a lot of sense to me – which is why this mail to you. What he said was that as it is the guys who run the associations do so on time they spare from their other activities. To expect them to walk around begging for donations is really too much! We shouldn’t put this burden on them.

I sure hope that you like our solution. Quite apart from helping fund the alumni association, it also becomes a matter of pride to state where we come form, to brandish one’s flag as it were.
